Chestnut Hill residents should get a taste of fine dining this Friday when Charles Roman opens his new restaurant Mica at 8609 Germantown Ave.

Mica’s debut culinary venture, Blackfish, is located in Conshohocken. It received the coveted title of “Best Restaurant of 2010” from Philadelphia Magazine this past winter. Mica’s cuisine will follow a style of seafood and American offerings. “The cuisine is progressive American with a French influence,” said Mica’s general manager Michael Decoker. Guests can expect an assortment of prix fix menus in addition to a chef’s tasting menu.

The interior of Mica will  seat up to 30 guests. It is similar in style to South Philadelphia’s French BYOBs Bibou and Fond. For the time being Mica will be an active BYOB as well. “We will remain one until we obtain a liquor license,” said Decoker.

Although restaurant reviewers are salivating to get their taste of Mica’s menu, some residents of Chestnut Hill don’t seem as interested. “I haven’t heard anyone talking about it. I just know it is the chef of Blackfish,” said Chestnut Hill resident Sean Reisman, 26. “I definitely hope it brings people to the area. Restaurants have become really popular in the neighborhood.”
