Remember the ’80s hit movies “Ghostbusters 1 and 2?” Well, the Ghostbusters have arrived in Philadelphia. Led by Nate Paro, the Philadelphia Ghostbusters were formed in 2009.

They started as an enthusiast group who loved the Ghostbusters’ franchise. After being established the group decided to be more than a fan club. Making a difference in the city of Philadelphia became the mission.

The Philadelphia Ghostbusters began hosting different fundraising events for charities around the city like Austism Speaks, Tis the Season: Stockings for Kids, Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis and several others. Many of the charities they have supported were brought to their attention by members of the fan club.

A fan club member, Paul Poole, said, “We find something that a member of ours has a problem with or one of their children has had a problem with and we raise money for it.”

The group has raised over $8,000 for various charities and hopes to raise more in the future. On May 21, they will be at the Philadelphia Zoo to continue their fundraising efforts for Cystic Fibrosis.

These Ghostbusters don’t limit their help to group members. They have attended other events to help people with a variety of needs. If you have an event and would like the group to make an appearance, you can contact the group on its website https://edfx.com/philadelphiaghostbusters/ or via Facebook https://www.facebook.com/philadelphiaghostbusters.
