A video interview depends on sequencing to make it work properly in an edit.

There are five basic shots.

1. The master shot

The shot can be slightly looser, but not much. When the subject is on the left side of the frame, the camera will be set over the left shoulder of the reporter. When the subject is on the right side of the frame, the camera will be over the right shoulder of the reporter.

2. Setup shot

The shot can be used for a voice-over introduction.

3. Two-shot over the reporter’s shoulder

The setup shot and the two-shot, during which the interviewee should NOT talk, can be done after the interview.

4. The reporter listening shot

You need to change camera position. The reporter should not nod or smile. The camera will be over the right shoulder of the interviewee.

5. The two-shot over the shoulder of the interviewee

These shots will make it possible for you to create a sequence for an interview.
