Originally from Manhattan, David Simms visited Philadelphia for a baby shower and never left. He began working in culinary arts and “came up through the ranks” as a banquet chef. Simms then owned a catering company with a business partner, located in Lehigh. After 14 years, they parted ways and Simms changed the name of his company to Eatible Delights. He also moved the company to 23rd and Ridge Avenue because he said he “needed a larger location.”

For the past five years, David Simms has been providing the greater Philadelphia area, along with Southern New Jersey and Northern Delaware, with professional catering and event planning. Simms said the company caters about 250 events per year.

The menus include wedding and prom packages, along with corporate catering. There are also specials for Election Day, Black History Month and Valentine’s Day. Eatible Delights includes breakfast, lunch and dinner selections, making them accessible for any type of event. Simms and his five employees not only cater events, but also bring their own “linens, china … tables, chairs, banquet servers or alcohol,” for the event.

When asked about business from Ridge Avenue, Simms replied he does not get a lot of business from the area. He said, “it’s a double-edged sword,” being located on Ridge. Simms also said Eatible Delights acquires most of its business online, from the company website, www.eatibledelights.com.
