Northeast Philadelphia is a unique part of the city that lends itself to a suburban feel. Somerton, Bustleton and Fox Chase businesses promise great food for people throughout the area. From Somerton’s Polish roots to Fox Chase’s German deli and Bustleton’s legendary diner, take a look at these five tasty treasures you might have missed in the Northeast.

Rieker’s Prime Meats

Rieker’s Prime Meats is located at 7979 Oxford Ave., in the heart of Fox Chase. This family-owned business serves not only the Fox Chase community, but is just a short walk from Montgomery county’s Rockledge residents. It displays and serves homemade, all-natural meats, such as ham, lamb, sausage and bologna in its deli. The store also shows its German pride with traditional meats and recipes, as well as non-food items such as flags, shirts and other merchandise.chubby

Chubby’s Fox Chase Deli

At the corner of Hoffnagle and Ridgeway streets, Chubby’s Fox Chase Deli is nestled within the residential section of Fox Chase. The deli features fresh meats and cheeses, makes hoagies and other sandwiches, and offers catering as well. Customers can also purchase basic needs such as milk, bread and chips. The store is also a UPS access point where people can drop off and receive packages.

This authentic Polish restaurant right off of Bustleton Avenue and Red Lion Road is a Somerton favorite. The family-owned Pierogi Factory features homemade food including classic pierogis, potato pancakes, kielbasa and much more that has customers coming back. Andonio’s Diner

Andonio’s Diner at 9244 Krewstown Road in the Bustleton neighborhood sits near the Krewstown Shopping Center and the Northeast Raquet Club and Fitness Center. It’s known for its incredible, friendly customer service and offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and also has baked goods. Cars fill the parking lot during business hours to enjoy both the service and food. The diner’s sign welcomes customers with the slogan: “Where Friends Meet.”

Hutchinson’s Bakery

This bakery is a delicious slice of Somerton. Located in Pavio’s Plaza at the intersection of Byberry Road and Bustleton Avenue, Hutchinson’s Bakery provides customers with a variety of sweet treats.
