# Germantown: Five Black-Owned Small Businesses Prospering In The Community

Germantown is one of the [oldest](https://www.visitphilly.com/philadelphia-neighborhoods/germantown/) settlements in Philadelphia. Known for its historical landmarks such as the [Germantown White House](https://www.nps.gov/inde/learn/historyculture/places-germantownwhitehouse.htm), [The Johnson House](https://www.johnsonhouse.org/) and many more, the history tracks almost three centuries of settlement, patriotism and abolitionism. But it has more to offer than just history including an abundance of small businesses.

Here are five black-owned businesses around [Germantown and Chelten avenues](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Northwest+Philadelphia,+Philadelphia,+PA+19144/@40.0358366,-75.1769271,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x89c6b836810f624b:0x28ffd317deed9ce2!8m2!3d40.0358366!4d-75.1747384) that offer a variety of services for everyone who comes in.
