Adrienne Berrian started working with flowers as a hobby at home. Nine years later, Berrian’s hobby became a reality when her brother purchased a flower shop as her birthday present. She originally started with the name Ridge Flowers but changed it five years ago to Adrienne’s Floral Creations.
Located at 4233 Ridge Ave., the store caters to all types of occasions, but Berrian works mostly with funeral homes.
“Several funeral homes in the area have me listed as their primary florist,” she said.
Along with floral arrangements, the store also works with silks and sells gift sets, stuffed animals and plants. Adrienne’s Floral Creations has been featured in the Philadelphia Flower Show for three years, in 2006, 2007 and 2011. Berrian teaches workshops and holds lectures for the show.
Berrian said she had no intention of starting a business. But once she was given the store, she said, “I took lessons at night from a high school and college for floral courses.”
She said she likes the location. “I am hoping to relocate because I need a bigger space but I want to stay in the area,” she added. “I get a lot of business from the area.”
Adrienne’s Floral Creations also has a delivery and wire service. The arrangements are delivered only in Philadelphia and the surrounding areas, but the wire service extends to any state. Berrian said, “I get business from all over but the area supports me well.”
