Being a parent has been said to be the hardest job. The MOMS Club of Northeast Philadelphia, a chapter of the MOMS Club, understands that statement. MOMS stands for moms offering moms support.
“We’re a support group for stay at home moms,” said Karoline Kachigian, Membership VP of MOMS Club of Northeast Philadelphia. “It’s something that allows you to always have support. You know that you’re not the only one having the issues you’re having. The club gives you someone to talk to.”
Kachigian has a special needs child. She said MOMS has given her a place to connect with other mothers who have are going through the same issues.
MOMS is not just a place for moms to connect with other moms, the group also hosts many events including fundraisers, mom’s nights out, play dates, birthday parties, trips to pools and the zoo. Kachigian said MOMS tries to stick around Northeast Philadelphia.
“There’s always something to do,” Kachigian said. “The majority of the reason we have activities is to get the moms together and give us something to do.”
All the events, asides from the mom’s night out, are kid friendly.
MOMS also meets once every month for an organizational meeting. At these meetings the group votes on different issues such as organizations to fundraise for and speakers who will appear throughout the month.You don’t have to be a stay at home mom to join MOMS Club. The group currently has moms who work full time, part time and those who stay at home.
