Families filled Commonwealth Plaza at the Kimmel Center Sunday morning for an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny.
Parents and children gathered around tables filled with art supplies to create festive Easter bags and baskets by using foam lettering, markers, stickers, glitter and other décor. Once the Easter bunny arrived, children ages 10 and under scrambled about Commonwealth Plaza searching near and far to retrieve the colorful, candy-filled plastic eggs.
After all of the eggs were found, a long line formed of people waiting to get their photo taken with the Easter bunny beneath the 81-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower in The Kimmel Center. Visitors enjoyed crêpes, pastries, coffee and other refreshments from a stylized Parisian food cart. The event was free and open to the public as part of the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts.
The festival will continue throughout the week with a variety of events and will conclude with the transformation of The Avenue of the Arts into a Parisian street fair on April 30. More information can be found on PIFA’s website.
