Most people don’t associate the dentist with candy, but Doc Bresler’s Cavity Busters, a family owned and operated pediatric dentist office, is encouraging their patients to drop off extra sweets at the office. Pediatric dentist Dr. Rachel Bresler explained what issues they see in their offices after Halloween.
“Two weeks after Halloween is when we see some of our most emergencies in the office. Kids are coming in with lost fillings or lost crowns, sometimes still stuck in the candy that caused the damage.”
Doc Bresler’s Cavity Busters collect the candy from their patients to donate to Philabundance, a non-profit food bank in South Philadelphia. Cavity Busters’ love for Halloween stems from the founder of their business and father of the Rachel, Jason, and Josh Bresler, who are all now practicing pediatric dentistry and teaching at Temple’s School of Dentistry.
Josh Bresler spoke about how their love for dentistry came from their dad and inspires them to keep his memory alive through their dentistry.
“Dad always said that he never went to work a day in his life because he really loved what he did, and he went to play. And that’s kind of how we all still feel. You know, we get to come in and be silly and sing and dance and at the same time, like really making a difference for the patients that we see.”
