Residents of West Rockland Street between Green Street and Germantown Avenue participated in a planting and beautification day by planting annuals, perennials, shrubs, herbs, vegetables and fruit in their front yards.
The program was sponsored by Grow This Block! The organization is about direct access to city and community resources, neighborhood pride, increased safety and decreased crime, community building, partnership, sustainability, access to fresh produce, self-reliance and self-sufficiency, increased property values and the battle against blight.
