For the past 16 years, Neumann-Goretti High School boy’s basketball head coach Carl Arrigale and assistant coach John Mosco have worked closely with each other while bringing the Saints program to prominence within the Catholic League and the entire state.

This upcoming basketball season, however, will be different.

No longer will the two walk along the same bench after Mosco accepted his first head coaching job with Archbishop Wood High School of Warminster, another Catholic League team.

“I owe everything to Carl,” Mosco said. “He’s given me the opportunity to run the program along with him. Hopefully, from the experience he gave me, I’ll be able to start running the program and get it up to speed. Just get the program where it wants to be and try to match Neumann-Goretti.”

Leaving Neumann-Goretti for a head coaching position wasn’t an easy decision for Mosco, according to Arrigale, who helped him find the position. The two continuously spoke with each other about the opportunity before Mosco made it official on August 21st.

“I helped him all through the process,” Arrigale said. “He talked himself in and out of it at different times so we talked all throughout the process.”

Neumann-Goretti and Archbishop Wood will play each other on February 7th, where Mosco and Arrigale will be on opposing sides for the first time.
