Debbie Anday started Stash Spot in March to hopefully solve an issue that has become more common since the start of the pandemic: people stealing unattended packages from resident’s porches and stoops. These so-called “porch pirates” are rarely caught, but frustrate residents regardless. 

Saved Me Adoption Center held their annual spring cleaning event on on Saturday, April 30.

Al-Aqsa Eman Mustafa is a teacher at Al-Aqsa School, a private Islamic day school that is part of Al-Aqsa Islamic Society mosque at 1501 Germantown Ave. Al-Aqsa is an important center for many Philadelphia muslims, hosting religious services, a halal grocery store, and an Islamic school.

Eugene “Buddah” Thomas formed Power Circle Mentoring in 2015, a program designed to help children 11-19 gain the life skills needed to achieve their dreams. Since then, the nonprofit has reached about 700 kids through summer programs, job assistance, weekly classes, and pop-up events, Thomas said.

Plant and People is a small plant nursery located at 1431 N 52nd St. Run by mother-daughter duo Cherron Perry Thomas and Alma Thomas, Plant and People is a Black-owned, family-owned, woman-owned business with a goal to make plants accessible in Philadelphia.

After lots of brainstorming and a year spent hosting yoga sessions outside and sharing images on Instagram, friends Alisha Edwards and Azia Henry decided to bring their yoga studio, Hood Healers, to life. 

Juntos is a community based organization that works to help Latinx immigrants with any issues they might run into here in Philadelphia.

Based in North Philadelphia, Amber Art and Design is a non-profit company run by a collective of five public artists from all over the region.
