Angel Casiano loves music. He has rocked his guitar over the span of two decades.
But after a five-year hiatus from playing live, the Morrell Park performer and writer is ready to tour the venues again.
Casiano said he will try to play at every open stage in the region while writing about the experience for Out on the Town Magazine, an entertainment guide for the Delaware Valley region.

The guitar player started his survey last Monday at World Cafe Live near the corner of 30th and Walnut streets. Casiano said he plans on playing at the bar in the near future.

“It’s a great place to feature acts,” Casiano said. “It’s right in the middle of everything.”

Some other places Casiano has on his check list are the Green Rock in Fishtown, Shenanigans Saloon in Kennsington and Harrington’s Pub in Tacony.

Casiano said writing about music started as a fluke more than 20 years ago.
His work with Out on the Town started when he helped his friend Mike Vagnoni, editor and publisher of the magazine, deliver magazines to music bars he played at.

Eventually, he wrote a piece about playing at open stages in Philadelphia.
“I remember the opening lines were ‘So you want to be a rock ‘n’ roll star?'”Casiano said. “Music has always been my main passion.”

World Cafe Live is one of many venues Angel Casiano will play at.
