Inside the Globe Dye Works are the remains of huge machines and the floor space of a factory used to dye yarn. Today, it is home to the studio space of various local artists working on paintings, sculptures, and various other projects.
Globe Dye Works will hold an exhibit called the Global Intersection 2013 from October 4 to the 27. The exhibit will host eight artists from various places such as Venezuela and Italy, as well as locals from the area.
“They’re using the materials a little more innovatively,” said Rachel Citrino, who is hosting the event as well as presenting her own work. “It’s sort of a celebration of the methods and the materials.”
Nancy Citrino, Rachel Citrino’s sister, is a print maker who has developed a technique of printing on fabric. Her art will be hung in the disused factory walls.
Joseph Leroux, another artist who works in Globe Dye Works, fabricates art from found objects, such as electrical equipment.
“We’re always working on different projects,” Leroux said.“It’s an interesting place.”
