Supporters gathered at the 7165 Lounge to raise money for 8th District candidate Robin Tasco.
Located on the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue, family and friends got together to raise funds for Tasco’s campaign.
Tasco’s godfather Bishop Jesse Lomax said he’s going to do whatever it takes for people to vote for his goddaughter.
“She doesn’t want to just sit in the office. She wants to go out into the district and work,” he said.
Tasco grew up in Germantown and has been a certified electrician for 24 years. She is also an active member of the Local 98 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) union. Members of the union said they believe Tasco knows what the community needs.
Union member Bruce Fulton said Tasco has seen the struggle in her neighborhood.
“She has grown up in her neighborhood. I think it’s time for change in the community with new blood. We need a person who is for the people who has integrity, dignity and is trustworthy and honest. That is Robin.”
The fundraising event, which took place on April 15, was presented by Friends of Robin Tasco and catered by award-winning Chef Bernard.
Tasco said this event was a way to network with her supporters. “We are here to talk about the next step after tonight,” she explained.
Tasco is one of seven candidates running for the 8th District. The current position is held by Councilwoman Donna Reed Miller, but she will not be seeking reelection.
