Arts & Entertainment: Philadelphia Songwriters Project Host’s All Star Benefit Show

2011 winner, Joshua PopeJoy and his fiancé share a wonderful chemistry on stage.

The first ever All-Star Benefit show hosted by the  Philadelphia Songwriters Project took place Sunday in the back room of Boot and Saddle. Co-founder and executive director of the Philadelphia Songwriter Project Dena Marchiony welcomed all music fans interested in donating to a good cause – the proceeds from the show were given to organizations in support of animal welfare. Mercy for Animals, a national organization that is striving for change in the treatment of farm animals, and PAWS, a local Philadelphia organization that gives shelter to any animal in need, took part in the event.

The All-Star performers have all won the annual Philadelphia Songwriters Project’s songwriting competition. These artists seemed pleased to perform alongside each other for the cause.

The night ended on a happy note from 2011 contest winner, Joshua PopeJoy.

“As good as these performers sound,” he said, “they are even better people.”
