Although many of Fairhill’s streets are lined with stores that offer quality clothing, Tiara and Tuxedo seems to stand apart from the rest.
With prom season fast approaching, young residents have turned to the shop to find affordable outfits for the big night.
Located on 2941 N. Fifth St., owners Leslie Fuentes and Demetrius Henderson opened their doors just six months ago hoping to flourish in the neighborhood. The store offers not just tuxedos, but casual wear, women’s dresses, jewelry and more for people of all ages.
With prom being one of their current main focuses, Fuentes and Henderson try to advertise their promotions in neighboring high schools through vouchers and online networking. The students in the area have come to find the store to be helpful in their prom night planning.
“It is cheaper here than other places like Men’s Wearhouse. I might as well get it here than somewhere else if it is the same thing,” said Esperanza Academy Charter student Christian Pagan.
With prices starting at $60, students can purchase a complete prom outfit without emptying their wallets.
“The whole key is with prom season and us being parents, we know how stressful it is. We know how important it is to the children so we give back to the children by lowering the prices,” Fuentes said.
Fuentes and Henderson network with other companies close by to offer their customers more services like catering and wedding planning. The owners said they believe their store separates itself from others with their wide range of choices and flexibility to the consumer’s needs.
“You don’t have to spend money to look good,” Fuentes said.
