Residents joined together on Sept. 18 for their final community party of the summer season, the eighth annual Strawberry Mansion Day at Mander Park at 33rd and Diamond streets. Their original planned festivities, which began the day before, had to be cut short and pushed to Sunday due to rain. Despite the rapid change of plans, the party still carried on with much laughter and music to be heard. The event, which is primarily put on by the Strawberry Mansion Neighborhood Action Center, featured a 5K run, free food, information tables, live performances, a Strawberry Mansion “Idol” competition, giveaways and a new dedication to the namesake of the park.
