Looking for places to eat outside the crowded and congested center city? Germantown offers customers great food without all the hustle and bustle of the city. From barbecue to Chinese to pizza, this area has you covered for any food you desire.
House of Jin 234 W Chelten Avenue
A combined Japanese and Chinese style sushi restaurant, House of Jin (above) serves up good food in very large portions at more than reasonable pricing. It offers takeout, as well as a very nice sit down and dine-in experience in a visually pleasing Asian-themed atmosphere. As would be expected, the sushi is delicious.
Gennaro’s Famous Pizza 210 W. Chelten Avenue
Gennaro’s uses a fresh mozzarella cheese to set themselves aside from other pizza restaurants in Germantown, but what really distinguishes Gennaro’s is their signature sauce.
“We use our own homemade specialty sauce,” owner Mo Mousa said. “It’s delicious and our customers love it.”
Don’t try and get Mousa to tell you what’s in the sauce.
“I can’t tell anybody what goes in our sauce. I can’t have everyone else copying us,” Mousa said with a chuckle.
Though what’s in the sauce remains a secret, it does make for a very good slice of pie.
Crab House 5706 Germantown Avenue
What the Crab House lacks in an environmentally pleasing location, it makes up for in its food and service. The waiters and waitresses are attentive and polite, and the menu has a wide variety of fresh quality seafood. Specifically, the mussels are exceptional here as are the crab cakes. The downside is the Crab House does have some ‘strange’ locals that use the outside of the establishment as a hangout spot.
Germantown Pizza 324 W. Chelten Avenue
This is a well-known pizza place in Germantown that uses a specific blend of four cheeses to top each slice of its signature product. There are no tables or chairs. The inside is bare and white. Don’t let appearances fool you, though. Germantown Pizza delivers big taste to those who take out.
BBQ Town 7711 Ogontz Avenue
From everything to barbecue chicken to pork rib to mashed potatoes and so much more, BBQ town offers customers a little taste of southern barbecue to the streets of Germantown.
