Manayunk: Five Places to Go Out and See Live Music

Live music can transform a quiet bar or restaurant into an exciting and happening place. From full bands playing original music, to acoustic covers, to disc jockeys, here is is a list of five places in Manayunk where it can be seen.

Dawson Street Pub

Dawson Street Pub (above) has hosted nationally known acts like Selwyn Birchwood, Eric Bazilian from The Hooters, and Philadelphia’s own Amos Lee. Live music can be seen on any Thursday, Friday or Saturday. On Wednesday nights, there is an open mic where anyone can sign up to play.

Bourbon Blue

Bourbon Blue features live music five nights a week, Wednesday through Sunday. A list of its upcoming performers, ranging from acoustic covers to DJ dance parties can be found on its events page.

The Grape Room

The Grape Room, formerly known as the Grape Street Pub, is another staple of the Philadelphia’s original music scene. Two open mic nights occur weekly with an acoustic one on Mondays and a full band, open jam on Wednesdays. Original bands and even some comedians fill out the other events throughout the week.

The Goat’s Beard

This bar and restaurant focuses its mission on local food, local wines and craft beers. Its website does not list upcoming music performers but it features live acoustic music weekly Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Somo

Somo is the place to be in Manayunk for fans of hip-hop and electronic music. National and local acts are featured here spinning tunes ranging from classic R ‘n B to modern day house music.
