Francisville is a small, hidden neighborhood that most people have not heard of. Right now, it is an isolated area with many vacant lots and abandoned houses.
However, there is one devoted organization that is looking to better Francisville. Francisville Neighborhood Development Corp. has created numerous movements to help improve the quality of life for the residents. One of their recent measures for Francisville’s advancement is a plan called “Moving Francisville Forward: A Blueprint for the Future.” This plan entails building a community, building community pride and building a name for the neighborhood. The two main goals of this vision are for Francisville to become more known and “put the ‘heart” of Francisville, the Ridge Avenue corridor, back in business.” Most people do not know the history behind this quaint locality and the members of the FNDC want to change that. They also want to revive Ridge Avenue in order to bring more money into the local shops. According to the FNDC, local markets are losing $65 million in sales annually due to residents having to leave the neighborhood to shop.
