There are several ways to travel around the city.
While some choose to walk and others ride bikes, thanks to Condor Car Service, located at 4754 Rising Sun Ave., residents of the Feltonville area are able to ride around in style.
The services at Condor are almost endless. From transporting people to proms and weddings or simply the grocery store, Condor has made life for people in need of transportation more convenient.
This door-to-door service is home to more than 50 vehicles and is mostly used by the North Philadelphia population. Since summer has approached, Diana Afanador, the manager of Condor, said business has slowed down. Not only does the car service have to compete with four other transportation services in the area, but they have also struggled with business since the start of the downward-spiraling economy.
“People are using their money more wisely during times like these,” Afanador said.
Although business has been slow, Afanador said she still enjoyed working at Condor.
“This is a good business overall because a lot of people benefit from it and a lot of people live off this,” she said.
However, she made it clear with strangers in and out of the drivers’ cars, there are many risks that go along with the business.
“This business is like a lottery because you never know what’s going to happen to you,” Afanador said.
About a year ago, a Condor employee, Juan Reyes, was tragically shot and killed. While still mourning the loss, the Condor family held a special Mass in remembrance of Reyes and plans on making it a yearly tradition.
In the future, Condor Car Service plans to extend its business by frequently advertising on radio stations and other sorts of resources. The car service can be contacted at 215-455-7777.
