North Philadelphia: Owls Look to Boost Football Program

If all goes according to plan, five years from now Temple University will have its own football stadium and a team ranked in the Top 25 nationally that competes regularly in the popular and lucrative post-season bowl games.

If all goes according to plan, that stadium will be filled not only with students and alumni but sports fans from the across the region, who are there because Temple has become Philadelphia’s college football team.

More fans means more money for the university’s athletic department, but school officials also believe it will strengthen Temple’s brand locally and even nationally.

The university would have a lot to gain from the sizzle a winning team brings, in terms of recruiting players and students.

But, before the gain comes the pain.
