The Bicycle Stable has been a full-service shop for over 10 years in Fishtown. With the rise in gas prices, owner Chaz Vlastis discussed how much a difference it has made on his shop. “It has made some difference but I’m not quite sure how much. It’s really hard to say how much gas prices influence this business,” Vlastis said.
The shop has been located at 1240 Frankford Ave. since Vlastis decided to open the business. “I used to race bicylles and I’ve been in and out of the bicycle business for many years. I’ve been looking for a place with a good location that wasn’t too expensive and this place worked,” Vlastis said.
The Bicycle Stable sees more business in the summertime but with a recent string of warmer weather, business has begun to pick up.
“We have some loyal customers but I see some new faces all the time,” Vlastis said. Neighbors can buy or have their bicycle repaired at the shop.
Vlastis said the area has seen improvement and has gotten better in the ten years since he has owned the shop and plans to stay here for the rest of his life.
