The fliers are a reminder for people to vote on Nov. 8. More specifically, they urge people to vote Wali Diop Rahman to be the next mayor of Philadelphia. Grant said Rahman is a “candidate for the community,” and feels that he would be the best choice for Philadelphia, focusing on the children and the future of the area.

Grant, still a Strawberry Mansion resident, said he feels so passionately about the election because someone needed to step up, there wasn’t a guarantee that someone else would, so he decided to. “I love these children. If we don’t give them direction no one is going to give them direction,” said the dad of three.

Rahman will be listed on the ballot as an independent candidate. According to his website, www.diop2011.com, he received more than 4,000 signatures to add him to the ballot.  He was only required to have 1,845.

Strawberry Mansion residents can expect to see more black-and-white Rahman signs throughout the neighborhood for the next few days. Grant will be hanging them until Election Day.
