Have A Question About Your Philadelphia Neighborhood? Get Your Answer Here

Drexel University has been a source of destruction of historic Powelton Village properties, but has recently taken steps to reverse the damage.

Since we launched in 2003, Philadelphia Neighborhoods has done what the mainstream media has not: sent journalists to tell stories in each neighborhood in the city. These students have been trying to tell the untold stories of Philadelphia like of the low-cost youth sports program Kingsessing Roadrunners, or of St. Maron’s Church connecting Middle Eastern immigrants in South Philadelphia.

We know we can do more, so we are trying something new: We’re asking Philadelphians to ask questions, and a reporter will find the answers.

We want to tap into your curiosities about the city and your neighborhood. Whether it’s that construction project down the block, questions on how to become a ward leader, or the history behind city laws we want to answer your questions.

Using the software Hearken (which is defined as “listen”), we will collect questions. Enter your questions below, and later this week, a “voting round” will open. Other readers will be able to vote on your question, and whichever one receives the most votes, the reporter will work with the person who submitted the question to find the answer. Through the student journalist’s reporting, they’ll write a story answering the question to share on the Philadelphia Neighborhoods site.
